About Dr. Monroe

Dr. Michael T. Monroe, is an orthopedic surgeon hailing from Beaverton, Oregon. His journey in medicine began at the University of Washington in Seattle, where he completed both his undergraduate and medical education, consistently excelling and earning a place on the High Scholarship list. Dr. Monroe completed his residency training at Wayne State University in Detroit, where he was honored with the prestigious "Richard Lamont MD Award for Excellence in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery." Following his residency, Dr. Monroe pursued specialized fellowship training in Foot and Ankle Surgery at the University of South Alabama. Since 1998, Dr. Monroe has been an integral part of the Las Vegas medical community, continuously providing orthopedic and trauma care as part of Orthopaedic Specialists of Nevada.

Both private practice and academic orthopedics have been a part of Dr. Monroe's professional life for over 25 years. During which, he trained medical students, orthopedic residents and fellows at the University of Nevada School of Medicine and the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV, Department of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Monroe has a number of peer reviewed journal publications and numerous scholarly presentations. He is one of the founders of the only allopathic orthopedic surgery residency in Nevada and continues to serve as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Directory of Foot and Ankle Surgery.

Dr. Monroe has been treating complex injuries to the extremities as part of the level 1 trauma service nearly his entire career. His specialty expertise is in fracture care and reconstruction of the foot and ankle. Dr. Monroe has extensive experience in fracture care, foot and ankle surgery, sports medicine and the treatment of industrial injuries. These include: Knee and Ankle Arthroplasty; Forefoot and Hindfoot Reconstruction; Bunion Surgery; Arthroscopy of the Ankle, Knee and Shoulder; ACL Reconstruction; and Rotator Cuff Repair

Outside of the office and operating room, he likes to spend time with his wife, and 3 children. He enjoys skiing, tennis, golf and coaching his kids sports teams. In his extra time Dr. Monroe volunteers and contributes to the Inspiring Children's Foundation and serves on the USTA Nevada board of directors.

Our office

Orthopaedic Specialists is a full-service, state-of-the-art orthopedic office with a large, comfortable waiting room, fifteen patient exam rooms, and a fully equipped digital X-ray suite. We have physicians and professional staff that are bilingual to address the needs of our Spanish-speaking patients.

Our billing office is located in-house, ensuring patient concerns about their financial obligations can be given immediate and accurate attention.

Our telephone is answered 24 hours a day. After regular office hours and on weekends, the phone is answered by our answering service who will notify the doctor on call of any emergencies.

Appointments

In order to provide efficient delivery of health care, patients are seen by appointment only. The staff is instructed to ask patients a few questions about the nature of their problem so that care can be properly directed and sufficient time arranged for their visit with us. We ask patients to bring their X-rays, health insurance cards and a referral form from their primary care physician to their appointment.
